Concert for preschoolers

A concert for preschool is a moment where children get to listen to new, unknown sounds as well as sing and move to music that they have heard before. During the concert we talk about how a sound comes into being and the building blocks of music, we talk about emotions and moods and how they are expressed in the music.

Together with the younger children (1-3 years), we focus on listening to the music and feeling how the pulse and emotions affect our bodies. The older children (4-6 years old) together with the saxophonists create a story that is then musically embodied in which the children can participate and make sounds with their bodies and percussion instruments that we have with us.

Two of the quartet's saxophonists bring saxophones of different sizes. We play music by contemporary composers such as Matthew Peterson, really old music by the Baroque composer J.S. Bach and a whole heap of classics that kids recognize from preschool.

The concert can be given both indoors and outdoors during intermission.
