About Us
Stockholm Saxophone Quartet – musical joy since 1969
The Stockholm Saxophone Quartet is a central player in contemporary chamber music for saxophones and electroacoustic music, where tradition meets innovation. They often collaborate with composers, artists and other genres, which makes their concerts both innovative and cross-border. Regardless of whether they perform a newly written work or a bold interpretation of a classic, the goal is always the same: to touch, challenge, inspire and spread the joy of music.
International presence and audience meetings
The quartet has toured in over 30 countries on five continents and has played in everything from France to Mongolia, Iran to the USA, Japan to Bolivia. The Stockholm Saxophone Quartet is an important voice for Swedish music internationally, while at the same time bringing musical impressions home to the Swedish audience. In addition to concerts and festival performances, the ensemble engages in educational projects, seminars and workshops, to inspire the next generation of musicians and composers to explore the boundaries of the saxophone and contemporary music.
Svensk Musikvår
Since 2016, the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet has been the driving force behind the Svensk Musikvår festival, a platform where Swedish art music takes its place on Stockholm's cultural stages. The festival has become a manifesto for contemporary music in Sweden and an important forum for both established and new composers.
With the support of Region Stockholm and the Swedish Arts Council, the Stockholm Saxophone Quartet continues to spread the joy of music across borders.
